Fiber Certification

Fiber certification is essential to verify if a fiber link or a fiber installation meets known industry standards or applications. Certification ensures that the fiber is properly installed and is within specification prior to commissioning the network - providing customers the quality of service (QoS) they need. In addition, this practice protects both the installer and the customer.

Enterprise certification is conducted in accordance with standards that regulate total link loss, as well as total fiber length. Failing to respect one of these criteria will have a direct impact on the QoS delivered to the customer.

This article discusses two of the main aspects of fiber certification; namely, industry standards and light source launch conditions.
