Cable sharing is the practice of running multiple network application over a single copper cable. Although telecom professionals accept the concept of cable sharing, it is only now becoming a recognized practice for reducing costs, simplifying cable management, and converging applications onto one media type. The growing acceptance of fully-shielded (category 7/class F) cabling is identified as the primary reason why cable sharing is appearing in the designs of top IT designers and consultants.
